An oil change is the most common reason someone comes into ProAuto. It's also one of the best opportunities to catch things before they become problems — and we don't waste it.


What we check every time


When your vehicle is on the lift or in the bay, our technicians perform a visual inspection of several systems beyond just the oil service. This isn't a formal multi-point inspection with a printout (though we offer that separately) — it's the basic professional habit of looking at your car while we're already there.


Fluid levels. Coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid (on vehicles equipped), transmission fluid (where accessible), and windshield washer fluid.


Tire pressure. All four tires adjusted to the door jamb specification. Sometimes a fifth if you have a full-size spare.


Tire condition. Visible tread depth, sidewall cracking, any embedded objects, and uneven wear patterns.


Brake components. Visible pad thickness from outside the wheel (if visible without disassembly). We'll note if something looks thin or if we see any obvious rotor wear.


Lights. A quick walk-around to check that headlights, brake lights, taillights, and turn signals are working.


Underhood. Belts and visible hoses for obvious cracking or wear.


What we do with what we find


If everything looks good, we'll tell you that. If we see something worth your attention — low fluid, a tire wearing unevenly, or brake pads getting thin — we'll show you and explain what we recommend and the timeline for acting on it. You're never obligated to add anything to your visit.


Because our mechanics don't work on commission, there's no financial incentive to find things that aren't there.
